1:12 Scale Miniature Christmas Centrepiece

Image
I love making these little Centrepieces!  Most of the materials can be found at the Dollar store.  The tree, glass jar, shiny presents, the red foam and the Santas are from Dollarama Canada. The base is a scrap piece of basswood but you could use cardboard. The striped present and the plate are made from scrapbook paper and the cookies and candy are Fimo brand polymer clay

Christmas Diorama in 1:12 scale

This is the Christmas diorama I made for 2023. I made the red house base out of 2 cigar boxes and the bricks are egg cartons.  I made the door from popsicle sticks and the window is made from an altered playmobil window.

Hocus Pocus OOAK Sarah Sanderson Barbie

Image
I attempted to do a custom Barbie this month.  My cousin loves Halloween and #hocuspocus so I redid this #mtm doll to look like #sarahsanderson    I used a mix of vintage doll clothes and fabric that belonged to our grandmother for her clothes.  I had so much fun doing this that I can't wait to do another ( I really want to do Laverne and Shirley)

July 19, 2023 Barbie Movie Release and Dollar Tree Finds

Image
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all are having a wonderful week.  I can see from Instagram that most of the doll world is gearing up for the release of The Barbie Movie tomorrow.  I'm excited but I will probably wait a week or so to see it.  I love Barbie and all things 1:6 scale, but I am an even bigger Greta Gerwig fan.  Are you planning on seeing it in the theatre? Have you bought any of the merchandise? I've been tempted to buy the Margot Robbie doll but  I really don't want to pay the high price for her.  I will probably wait until I find one second hand or out of the box.  For the budget friendly doll collector, The Dollar Tree in Canada has a bunch of Fashion Doll sized furniture. I grabbed the patio stuff which includes a table, umbrella, side table, lounger and chairs. They also had a pink barbecue that I regret not getting. Someone in a facebook group did a makeover of one with silver paint and it looked fabulous. I'm hoping they still have som...

Fairy Gardens

Image
Do you have a fairy garden? I like to start one from scratch every spring.  I do reuse most of my items from the previous year though. This year I am doing one in a raised planter box.  Wildlife and weather are the two biggest "threats" to our little cities and villages. One year I was so happy with my fairy town done at the base of a huge tree. Sadly it also became a favourite spot for a neighbourhood raccoon to use as a rest room! Some birds like to flip little things over to get to the insects underneath and squirrels are just jerks and will trample over things like they are invisible. I have found that hanging an aluminum pie pan above the garden deters squirrels a little but they seem to have become used to it after just a week.  This year I'm trying a wood-chip base. So far it is keeping the weeds to a minimum. I like to let a few weeds through for some free natural greenery.
